11:10am Official Renaming of Springdale Race Course to “Camp Springdale” for
race day, in honor of our Military
11:15am Official Swearing-In Ceremony of US Army Recruits, conducting ceremony is
Major General James Milano, Commanding General, Fort Jackson
Special Guest Master Sgt John Baker, Medal of Honor Recipient
11:25 am Announcement of inaugural annual Major General Baron de Kalb Service
Award winner , award-winning broadcast journalist Rita Cosby accepting on
behalf of her father, Richard Cosby, member of the
Polish Resistance in WWII
11:40 am Carolina Skydiving Team jumps the course in front of Grandstand with
three American flags – two 500 sq ft flags and one gigantic 1,500 sq ft flag
11:45 am Renaissance Vocal Group performs Armed Forces Medley
11:55 am The National Anthem sung by Tomaczek Bednarek
12:00 pm Horses arrive in the Saddling Paddock for the First Race
12:30 pm Post time for the 1st Race; there will be 6 races, which will be run approx.
35 - 40 minutes apart. The Colonial Cup is the fourth race on the card;
post time will be approximately 2:15 pm
Infield Activities:
Jack Russell Terrier races, Carousel, Mule Wagon Rides, Pony Rides, American Flag Coloring mural where adults and children alike can leave their thank yous to our troops (after the Colonial Cup the mural will be sent overseas to our military), Blue Star Moms and Ronald McDonald House volunteers staffing the mural tent, Buffalo Soldiers, face painting, military equipment display including Dale Earnhardt Jr. Race show car and Humvees provided by SC National Guard, Half-Track from the WWII Normandy D-Day Invasion provided by Celebrate Freedom, Concessions
Grandstand:
Colonial Cup races available by Pay-per-View
The National Steeplechase Association, in conjunction with the United States Equestrian Federation, will offer live streaming video broadcasts of the Colonial Cup on a pay-per-view basis. The pay-per-view charge will be $29.95 and the video can be accessed from either the National Steeplechase Association website, www.nationalsteeplechase.com, or through the USEF Network at www.usefnetwork.com. The video images will be provided by HCP Sports, headed by Sam Slater, and will be sent by satellite uplink to the United States Equestrian Federation to be streamed immediately on the USEF Network website.
