9:00 am Gates Open at Springdale Race Course
Registration begins for Terrier Races (Infield)
9:30 am Practice races begin for Terrier Races (Infield)
11:15 am Pre-Race Show begins – Third year at the Colonial Cup
“America the Beautiful”, “America”, and “You Raise Me Up”(Winner’s Circle in front of Grandstand)
Color Guard – Lugoff-Elgin Colonial Color Guard
(on race course in front of Grandstand)
11:20am Tribute to Our Veterans, written and read by Paula Darrow,
Operations Assistant/Post Narrator for Ft Jackson
11:25am Official Swearing-In Ceremony of US Army Recruits(on race course in front of Grandstand),
conducting ceremony is BG David MacEwan, Commanding
General, Soldier Support Institute at Ft Jackson
11:40 am Carolina Skydiving Team jumps the course in front of Grandstand with
three American flags – two 500 sq ft flags and one gigantic 1,500 sq ft flag
11:50 am Renaissance Vocal Group performs a Medley of Patriotic Songs, including
Armed Forces Medley – Renaissance Vocal Group (Winner’s Circle in front of
Grandstand)
11:55 am The National Anthem sung by Airman Nicole Sikorski of Shaw AFB(Winner’s Circle in front of Grandstand)
12:00 pm Horses arrive in the Saddling Paddock for the First Race
12:30 pm Post time for the 1st Race; there will be 6 races, which will be run approx.
35 - 40 minutes apart. The Colonial Cup is the fourth race on the card;post time will be approximately 2:15 pm
Infield Activities:
Jack Russell Terrier races, Carousel, Mule Wagon Rides, Pony Rides, American Flag Coloring mural where adults and children alike can leave their thank yous to our troops (after the Colonial Cup the mural will be sent to our military), Blue Star Moms volunteers and Ronald McDonald House volunteers staffing the mural tent, Buffalo Soldiers, face painting, military equipment display including Humvees provided by SC National Guard, Cobra Helicopter provided by Celebrate Freedom, Concessions
Grandstand:
Paddock Shoppes retail village, Concessions (behind Grandstand and beside Paddock)
